Dear Friends,
Some might say that the Jewish New Year begins late in 2024, but we can assure you that it will be here before you know it. Erev Rosh Hashanah is 8 weeks from tonight!
Rabbi Tilchin, Rabbi Funke, Jason Feddy, Ron Levy, Jackie Menter and Scott Spitzer are thrilled to welcome Rabbi Kvod Wieder to the team as we pilot merging our services with the traditional minyan at Temple Beth El of South Orange County. We are all excited to share this experience together with new energy and ideas!
Whether you are planning to join us in-person or via livestream, registration is required as an important security measure.
We are thrilled to share that Rabbi Funke’s 2nd annual Rosh Hashanah Renewal Service will take place on Friday, October 4th in TBESOC’s sanctuary and will be followed by a communal vegetarian potluck Rosh Hashanah Luncheon. You can RSVP to participate in our lunch potluck on our registration page orclick here.
In addition to Pre-School, Youth and Teen services masterfully designed by Rabbi Aviva, TBESOC is offering childcare with pre registration. That link is also accessible on our registration page.
Wether you are new to the JCoOC High Holiday family or joining us for the 9th time, we are eager to welcome you to our soulful, warm, substantive community of people who seek meaning in Judaism at this time of the year. Please emailJoy@JewishCollaborativeOC.org with any questions.

Experiencing inexplicable pain and suffering is an aspect of the human condition that people of every faith tradition have wrestled with for millennia. The Book of Job invites us into a conversation about the connection between suffering and punishment by exploring the story of one righteous man confronted with overwhelming misfortune through no fault of his own. Join us as we explore the complex topic of theodicy and pathways for coping in the face of disaster.
