As we enter Shabbat Hagadol, the "Great Sabbath" before Passover, we are mindful of how precious and fragile our political and personal freedoms truly are. Our beloved State of Israel is coping with tragedy and change. Our hearts stand with Israel as we pray for healing and hope.
We were in touch with dear friends in Tel Aviv who were yards away from the scene of the attack as it was happening yesterday. As they were exiting a cafe in the direction of the shooting, people were running toward them, warning them to head the other direction. Meanwhile, Israel's fragile coalition government has been thrown into crisis following the resignation of a coalition chairwoman, Idit Silman, of the Yamina party.
