We invite you to click on the red button above and listen to Rabbi Yosef Goldman's uplifting rendition of Gesher. The lyrics follow:
The world is a very narrow bridge. The essence is not to be afraid.
Kol ha'olam kulo gesher tzar me'od ve-ha'ikar lo lefacheid klal.
We hope that this message finds you healthy and focused on self-care. We are sending prayers for healing to those who find themselves struggling with health challenges of any kind and, of course, we are deeply mindful of those impacted by the Corona Virus that is working its way through the four corners of the globe. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Rabbi Tilchin if you are in need of a caring ear and/or spiritual guidance: RabbiMarcia@JewishCollaborativeOC.org .
Many synagogues have been streaming Friday night and Saturday morning services for several years. While this technology is not new, leaders are expanding its use exponentially in our new “social distancing” culture. Some daily minyanim are now being streamed in efforts to help those reciting Mourner’s Kaddish during their year of mourning for a loved one fulfill that comforting mitzvah.
If you would appreciate a dose of prayer and spirituality to help you start your day, consider the following:
Learning more your thing? Participate in IKAR’s daily torah study led by one of their four outstanding rabbis every day at IKAR.
In an effort to spread the “Joy of Jewish” and foster an expanded sense of community connection during the coming weeks and months, The Jewish Collaborative of Orange will be sharing these and other lifting events on our daily Facebook stream. If you know of artists, spiritual leaders and musicians offering up love and talent, please write to Collaborative Team Member Josh at numbersandkeys@gmail.com, and we will be happy to include links to recommended sites. Let’s make this a true collaborative effort.
Some other tips to cure the COVID-19 blues:
Check out Spotify’s recommended new artists and explore new music. This lesser-known talent pool is heavily reliant on local gigs as their source of income. Listening to their music on Spotify helps raise their national profile and provides a much-needed income stream during these difficult times.
ALIYAH’s first CD, Rise Up! is now on Spotify. Let the soaring harmonies of homegrown talent Maya Jaffe, Anna Eisen, Sheindl Spitzer-Tilchin, Emily Klein and Hillary Moss, z”l, lift your spirits.
Listen to JCoOC’s very own Jason Feddy and Sam Glaser. Both of these talented musicians performed at last year’s festival of friends, “Woodstock at 50” and will make you smile.
At this unprecedented, tenuous time, we have an opportunity, if not obligation to help each other. The Collaborative is here to foster meaningful connections. If you need help with grocery shopping, picking up a prescription or just want to chat, we will do our best to connect you with someone who can help. We are currently working alongside Jewish Federation of OC to establish a Mitzvah Match Program to help everyone, especially the more vulnerable among us, navigate our “new normal for now.” While we experience social distancing, we need not feel alone. In loving support, The Collaborative Team
