Dear Friends:

OC Egal - a new nightly minyan that counts both women and men in the traditional quorum of ten - launched last week online.  We are pleased to report that we had more than a minyan every night and were able to facilitate the recitation of Mourner's Kaddish for three people observing yahrzeits.  We welcomed participants from across the county representing 7 congregations.

The Orange County Jewish community has been missing a consistent place for pluralistic Jews to recite daily Kaddish for more than two decades.  The Jewish Collaborative is honored to bring men and women together from Orange County and beyond to build a unique kind of community dedicated to helping mourners fulfill their hovah (obligation) to honor the memories of their loved ones. 

We believe that this program will continue to grow and thrive in the coming weeks and years.  YOUR participation is both wanted and essential!

As with all in-person daily minyanim, it is extremely helpful to know with some certainty that we have at least ten people on any given night.  We anticipate that there will always be people who will enter the Zoom room when they can.  That is, in fact, what happened consistently during our first week.  That said, our organizers will feel more at ease with an advance list of ten or more participants.  Here is how you can help:

•  Also, we are poised to reach out to people experiencing loss or grief to offer consolation and invite them to attend OC Egal as it suits them.  Feel free to share their contact with us if permission is granted.
