We want to share some fun music and resources that may enhance the second half of your holiday.
Before we do that, a few important reminders:
SHABBAT & K'NISHMASCELEBRATION
Please join us on the evening of December 25, that holy day when Jews across America traditionally hit the ski slopes and go out for Chinese food, for JCoOC's 2nd annual Shabbat and K'nishmas Celebration. Jason Feddy and Rabbi Marcia will lead our 5:30pm Shabbat service. The Zoom room will remain open for those who would like to share a festive Shabbat dinner together followed by an informal concert - "I'm Dreaming of a White K'nishmas" - featuring Jason Feddy, Raymond Zachary and other special guests. A delicious kosher Chinese menu was designed by Blueberry Hill just for this occasion! CLICK HERE to order by December 22.
More than 900 "Backpacks of Love" will be distributed the week before Christmas to nearly 1,000 of our neighbors experiencing homelessness. ADOPT A BACKPACKby December 20 andvolunteer to help us pack at City Net on Sunday, December 20, by CLICKING HERE.
MUSIC AND FUN TO BRIGHTEN YOUR HANUKKAH
Looking for some fun Hanukkah stories and games to share at the dinner table on nights 6-8? Visit JewBelong to watch some cute videos and download their hysterical (and informative) Hanukkah Booklet.
ALIYAH MUSIC: It is hard to believe that 4 years have passed since this lovely group of young women from OC recorded these beautiful Hanukkah songs. Enjoy them this holiday:
If you would like us to send you one or both of their two CDs - Rise Upand A Reason to Go On - let us know and we'd be happy to do so.
The Macabbean Revolt and reclamation of the Temple that began in 167 BCE was a fight against forced assimilation into Greek culture. Jews in American have never been forced to abandon Jewish traditions, rituals or belief systems. That has been the incredible gift of living in this country. When we celebrate Hanukkah, it is a voluntary affirmation of our commitment to maintain a Jewish identity in the world's greatest melting pot.
