Weekly Emails

On Friday, January 22nd we are kicking off a NEW once-a-month event called ShabbaTogether. 

ShabbaTogether is an invitation to enjoy a monthly virtual “Shabbat Schmooze” as part of our Friday Night by Candlelight program, designed to build and strengthen familiarity and friendships within our Collaborative, Creative and Compassionate Jewish Community.

Here’s how it works:  Our Friday Night by Candlelight Shabbat service will begin, as always, at 5:30pm, accessible by Zoom or Facebook. At 6:30pm we will share Shabbat table rituals (Kiddush, motzi, etc..). Those who have signed up for ShabbaTogether will join a host and a few other guests in a ZOOM break-out room for a virtual Shabbat dinner schmooze. It’s casual, so feel free to eat while you engage.

At 7:15pm we will come back together for a short message from Rabbi Tilchin or special guest clergy and closing thoughts.  The evening will conclude at 7:30pm. If you can’t stay the whole time, we understand.  If services aren't your thing, no worries!  Please join us on ZOOM no later than 6:30pm so you can "bond" with your breakout group.

To reserve your space, e-mail your name and the names of those in your household attending with you to  joy@jewishcollaborativeoc.org.
Registering in advance is important.  We will certainly do our best to accommodate those who express interest in joining a breakout room on the night of, but that may not always be possible.

We are very excited about this new program!  While most of us deeply yearn for a time when we can gather together in person, thankfully, amidst the pandemic, we’re finding creative new ways to connect virtually and spiritually, and this is one of them.

We hope you can join us on Friday, January 22nd, for the launch of ShabbaTogether when our special musical guest will be Rabbi Aviva Funke. We will continue this program monthly on the 3rd Friday of every month.  Don’t forget to sign-up to be part of a break-out schmooze by e-mailing joy@jewishcollaborativeoc.org.
