RABBI TILCHIN'S SHABBAT MESSAGE
Dear Friends,
This week I had the opportunity to present at two very meaningful programs with Jewish Earth Alliance (JEA) and American Muslim and Multifaith Women's Empowerment Council (AMMWEC).
RAISING OUR VOICES FOR JEWISH ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE IN ORANGE COUNTY
On April 28, the Southern California chapter of Jewish Earth Alliance (JEA SoCal) held their monthly meeting (always the 4th Wednesday of every month on Zoom at noon) featuring guest presenter, Vicki Kaplan, from Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action. JCoOC is deeply committed to building a collaborative team of Earth Justice activists and we want YOU! Stay tuned for information about OC's first Dayenu Circle coming this summer.
If the health and future of our precious planet is on your radar - and it should be, all the time - please plan on joining us Wednesday, May 26 at noon for our next meeting. Add your name to JEA SoCal's mailing list by emailing JudyBerlfein@gmail.com.
The non-profit, Hazon, is the Jewish Lab for Sustainability and I am a proud member of their Rabbinic Council. As part of their yearlong Shmita Project, they share a weekly D'var Torah connecting the parashah to earth justice and sustainability. Enjoy Emor: Holidays for the Haves and the Have-Nots by Dr. Jeremy Bernstein.
HONORING RAMADAN
On April 21 I was humbled to be among more that 30 faith and political leaders that came together to combat hate and antisemitism during a National IFTAR hosted by AMMWEC. I spoke about the infinite possibilities for good through genuine interfaith friendship as modeled in the Book of Ruth. I invite you to watch and be inspired by this groundbreaking event. Click here to view the recording.
This may put a smile on the faces of those who know me, but I actually hosted a cooking class on April 29 for AMWEC's "Ramadan Cooking Nights" series. Learn about how the commercial matzah industry was a Passover game-changer for households across the world and my theories about "Jewish Foods" in general. It was great fun!

We look forward to seeing you this upcoming week for our Shabbat programs and educational events.
Shabbat Shalom u'Mevorakh, Rabbi Marcia Tilchin
