HIGH HOLIDAYS INFORMATION
The Jewish Collaborative of Orange County and Temple Isaiah will be holding hybrid High Holiday services offered both in-person and virtually. Our talented leadership and musical team will provide a menu of opportunities to engage you and your family, including family services, experiential workshops, panel discussions, Twelve Step meetings and engaging child care.
Whether you plan to join us in person or online, we look forward to sharing the holidays with you. Please note the following:
- All main sanctuary services will be live-streamed on the Jewish Collaborative Facebook and YouTube pages.
- Our Rosh Hashanah guest scholar/artist, rabbinical student Elizheva Hurvich, will offer two special experiential workshops beginning at 11:30am in person and on Zoom:
Tuesday, September 7 - Reflecting Back, Dreaming Forward: A Rosh Hashanah Journey and
Wednesday, September 8 - Creating Personal Holy Spaces: A Rosh Hashanah DIY Experience.
Zoom links will be provided to those who register in advance and posted on our livestream for those who are inspired to join closer to the sessions.
- Family Services led by Scott Spitzer and Elizheva Hurvich will be offered in-person and on Zoom from 10-11am on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Zoom links will be provided only to those who register. Families who know other families looking for an engaging Rosh Hashanah experience for the whole family should feel free to share this Zoom link with friends.
- MAHZORS: There are a few ways for virtual and in-person participants to be on the "same page." (1) Borrowing Books: On Sunday, September 5, feel free to come by Temple Isaiah (2401 Irvine Avenue in Newport Beach on the campus of Harbor Christian Church) between 2-4pm to pick up mahzors on loan for your home use through Yom Kippur. You may also stop by on Tuesday or Wednesday to pick up books at our outdoor check-in desk. (2) Alternatively, use this PDF to follow along with all the Rosh Hashanah Services. We will share the Yom Kippur PDF later next week. (3) If you would like to purchase a personal copy of Mahzor Hadash, CLICK HERE.
- If you are planning on joining us in person, you will need to upload a copy of your vaccination card - easy to do when you register. Or please bring your card or a photo of it with you to services. Thank you in advance.
Tashlich by the Bay, led by Rabbi Peter Levi, will take place on Tuesday afternoon at 2pm. We will gather at Harbor Christian at 1:45pm and walk together to the Back Bay for a nature hike and Tashlich service. RSVPs are not required, but we encourage you to register in advance by scrolling to the bottom of this link so we know to expect you. Bring your own bird seed or small crumbs of bread to scatter.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Jackie Menter at Jackie@JewishCollaborativeOC.org.
May each of us continue to navigate so many unknowns with courage and hope, and may we all be inscribed and sealed for a new Jewish year of sweetness, good health, greater compassion and the wisdom we so desperately need to bring healing to our fractured world.
