Dear Friends,
In late March of 2021, JCoOC innovated and co-hosted Stepping Into Liberation, a two-day Pre-Passover retreat for people connected to Twelve-Step Recovery. We collaborated with Rabbi Ilan Glazer, founder of Our Jewish Recovery (OJR) and Beit T'Shuvah in Los Angeles. The two-day virtual experience featured speakers and participants from all over the world and included partnerships with19 different Jewish Recovery organizations from Toronto to Atlanta to LA.
The third annual virtual retreat, hosted by Our Jewish Recovery and supported by JCoOC, is taking place this coming Sunday, March 26 beginning at 9:00am PT/ 12pm ET. This day of learning and soul-filling is a perfect way for anyone to begin their personal "house cleaning" for Passover. Register HERE
Many of us have Israel on our minds. It is hard to know what to say as our dear country seems to be at a tipping point. Many concerned Zionists from around the world are trying to figure out what will unfold in the coming months. This article, Justice, Justice Thou Shalt Review, written by JCoOC teacher and friend, Rabbi Shai Cherry, appeared in this week's edition of the Philadelphia Jewish Exponent. Â
For those moved to pray with their feet, UCI Visiting Assistant Professor, Alon Burstein, is encouraging his American friends to join him for the weekly peaceful protests taking place near the Israeli Consulate in LA every Sunday at 11am. (11000 Wilshire Blvd, LA)
When our hearts are heavy, it feels better to do something.
JCoOC participates in the community-wide Create a Jewish Legacy initiative, in partnership with the Jewish Community Foundation Orange County and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. Contact Rabbi Tilchin at rabbimarcia@jewishcollaborativeoc.org to explore the many ways you can leave a legacy to JCoOC and inspire future generations with your generosity.
