Dear Friends,
You may have heard or read about Santa Ana Unified School District’s Ethnic Studies curriculum that contains anti-Jewish and anti-Israel content. The Jewish Collaborative of Orange County supports the work being done within our local community to bring these concerns to light and to work with the school district to rewrite the curriculum, ensuring that all students are represented in school content. We feel it is important to broaden the scope of content so that the contributions and histories of all historically marginalized communities can be taught and celebrated. We stand with those fighting for the rights of all minorities to be seen and heard in the classroom.
Time is of the essence. We urge those who are concerned about this issue to attend a Santa Ana school board meeting to make your voice heard. Board meetings take place on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. Unless otherwise posted, meetings are held at the school district Administration Center, 1601 E. Chestnut Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92701 in the Board Room. Meetings are also broadcast live on Spectrum Cable, Channel 31, and repeated the following Saturday at 3 p.m. and Tuesday at 6 p.m.
