Please RSVP today for this weekend!
Dear Friends,
This annual Shabbaton is an opportunity to learn how we can strengthen our Jewish community through showing care for those who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
Special guest Bruce Bloom served OC families for decades as a leader and teacher of Jewish burial practices. A kinder and gentler soul is hard to find. Please join us this weekend at Beth Jacob Congregation in Irvine for some or all of his presentations.
This weekend of learning is dedicated to the memory of Sandy B. Fine who worked closely with Bruce for years as she helped countless families throughout Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego take care of their families in death. We hope you will join us for some or all of the events.
Yours, in service, Rabbi Marcia Tilchin

This question in 2025 has deep personal and political consequences with roots in ancient Jewish debates. Rabbi Daniel will trace how ideas of Jewish identity have shifted across time - from biblical categories to the modern crises of belonging. We will explore why there has never been one clear answer to the question of Jewish identity and why the debate itself may be essential to Jewish continuity.
